Helsingborg is one of the cities in Sweden with the highest number of restaurants which help to create a lively atmosphere in the city centre all year round. Here you can enjoy fine dining.  You can choose between exotic food from all over the world or traditional Swedish home cooking with local products.

Free public wifi

Public baths

There are several public baths in Helsingborg. You can swim, take a sauna, or if you’re brave enough have a dip in the ocean at any time of the year.

You’ll find the Simhallsbadet public bath at Södergatan 60. The facility has a 25 meter long swimming pool, a training pool, gym etc. Filborna Arena has a 25 meter pool, play pool, health and wellness facilities. Kallbadhuset Kallis, Pålsjöbaden and Rååbaden are open-air swimming facilities with saunas. Råå vallar is located at Råå and is an outdoor pool complex with a heated 50 meter pool, as well as a smaller pool and a paddling pool for children


Beaches run along about 25 kilometres of Helsingborg’s coastline. This gives visitors several unique opportunities as many of the beaches can be reached from central Helsingborg. You can take a dip at Tropical Beach as palm trees sway down the sandy beach, or take a swim at any of the other beaches in the city centre, like Fria Bad and Järnvägsmannens Bad at Gröningen.

Libraries in Helsingborg offer different kind of events. At Stadsbiblioteket in Stadsparken you can also relax with a cup of coffee and a good biscuit. There are also several other libraries around the municipality.

You can borrow books free of charge. You only need a library card, and that is also free of charge. However, the library may charge for remote loans, DVD loans orprintouts.

Accommodation – hotels and hostels

Helsingborg offers accommodation for all  occasions. You can choose between staying at a hotel in the city center, at a bed and breakfast in the Scanian countryside or at a hostel. There are also camping sites where you can stay in a caravan, tent or in a cottage.

Helsingborg’s city center offers you five hundred shops. Don’t miss out on the city’s cozy restaurants and cafés. The shopping district starts from the Kullagatan pedestrian zone in the center including its adjacent side streets and stretches all the way to  Gustav Adolf s torg.

Outside the city you’ll find Väla, a modern shopping mall  with a large number of shops. Here you will also find Ikea.

Culture and entertainment

A stone’s throw from the sea you’ll find the architecturally celebrated areas of Norra Hamnen and Dunkers Kulturhus. Here you’ll find art, history exhibitions, music, theatre and restaurants. Close to Dunkers you’ll find Helsingborg’s concert hall with its own symphony orchestra and Helsingborg’s city theatre with several stages. If you’d like to dance, go to a concert or maybe see stand-up comedy, then Helsingborg is the city for you. There are several clubs, bars and discos if you’re looking for good nightlife.

Helsingborg is known for its ferry connection to Helsingör (Elsinore). If you’d like to try it, this is what you need to do: buy a one-way ticket on the ferry to Helsingör, but don‘t go ashore. Instead you can enjoy the view and the food onboard over as many trips there and back as you like. Then you’ll just hop off in Helsingborg again. If you’d like to visit the beautiful city of Helsingör and then come back again, you of course will need a return ticket.

In Helsingborg you can find two unique gardens: Sofiero palace and palace garden and Fredriksdal’s museums and gardens. These parks are beautiful to visit all year around. At Sofiero you can also enjoy concerts in the summer or visit interesting exhibitions. At Fredriksdal you can learn about what life was like in Sweden a long time ago.

In the beautiful Slottshagsparken above Terrasstrapporna in the center of Helsingborg there is something very special. Here you’ll find the medieval Kärnan castle tower. Kärnan is about 35 meters high and it’s worth every single step up the stairs to reach the top and enjoy the magnificent views over the harbour, the city, Öresund and Helsingör.


Helsingborg has invested in safe, fun playgrounds. Here you and your children can play at different themed playgrounds all year round.

You can take many beautiful cycling excursions around Helsingborg. There are many lovely bike trials, both in the city centre and in the outskirts.

You can find all the bike trails and paths on Helsingborg’s cycle map. You can order the cycle map and have it sent to your home by post. You can also pick the map up from the reception at Helsingborg kontaktcenter located at Stortorget 17 or from the tourist information centre, Stadsbiblioteket (municipal library) and from the city’s bicycle vendors.

Sports and societies

Helsingborg is home to a top-level football team, Helsingborg IF also called HIF.  The city is also home to several other clubs for football, floor ball, table tennis, handball, swimming, tennis etc. Here you will also find the Olympia football arena, the Idrottens hus indoor arena and the newly built Helsingborg Arena.
