International conference explores innovative frontiers in VR applications for mental health

The international conference “VR in Mental Health” was recently held in Helsingborg, Sweden. The event brought together some of the world’s leading experts in virtual reality therapy. Around 170 participants from countries including Japan, the USA, Australia, and several European nations had the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research and explore various technical solutions.
The aim of the conference was to unite professionals who work with, or are interested in working with, VR in relation to mental health issues, to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience. This, in turn, aims to increase opportunities for the development and implementation of VR methods that are useful in mental health practices.
The event also served as a demonstration arena for new VR technologies in mental health. The goal was to host a scientifically grounded conference where participants could deepen both their intellectual and practical knowledge, while also expanding their national and international networks.
The conference was organized by Lund University (Associate Professor Märta Wallinius) and the City of Helsingborg (M.Sc. Annika Gustafson), in collaboration with the UMCG VR Mental Health Lab (Prof. MD Wim Veling), the University of Copenhagen (Prof. MD Merete Nordentoft, Prof. Louise Birkedal Glenthøj), and the University of Melbourne (Prof. Lucia Valmaggia).
